At Home in Dallas

About a week after we spent the day in Las Colinas, Grant finished his redecorating of the guest room- ahead of the visit by his Dad and stepmother in November. I took a series of pictures of the room for him, and those are the pictures on this page.

Grant has finally gotten the guest room decorated the way he wanted it, in a thoroughly nautical motif. The brass propeller is from the original S-2 Grant owned. He had replaced it when it became slightly chipped.

Grant has just the right accessories in just the right places. Grant has sold his original Chicago sailboat to a fellow that Grant works with at Gabbert's. He offered a decent price for it, so Grant had it shipped down here. It is at Lake Lewisville.

Here are two of the ship's wheels in the guest bedroom. Grant had saved them from old boats that he or his father had owned. One of them is mounted on the wall, and a much heavier one, which would be hard to mount on the wall, leans up against it.

Here are more of the nautical items in the guest bedroom. Grant had just bought the cane rocker at a Gabbert's employee sale.
