Very few years in this photo album have the significance that this year did; I can actually only think of a couple of other years, one behind and one ahead, that will be as significant for me as 1991.
It has been very hard, working backward through my photographic life to create these pages, not to write every bit of narrative from the perspective of 2016 (which it is at the moment). Of course, I know all that happened subsequent to any album page and album year. So in writing the narrative for this year, I of course have complete knowledge of what happened subsequently. That's how I can say now that this was a year of transition, and if you have been working your way forward in the album you probably have a good idea of what that transition was. As you look at the album pages for this year, you'll find out for sure.

Before you play it, though, you should know that I am not a "religious" person; I think that religions have it all wrong.
Yes, we are all connected, but not in the way religions say. Everything that happens has a cause, but not the cause religions tell us. Every action any of us takes has an effect, but not the effect, necessarily, that religions say.
We are bound to each other, but not because some God says so, but simply because we are. I am bound to Grant, but so am I bound to everyone and everything. I am even bound to you, the reader, even if I have never met you, talked to you or even seen you; and you are bound to me as a result of your having read some of the narrative on some of these pages.
So, watch the clip, and know that this year, for me, a "door will close", but as Song Mi says, another door will open.
