A Visit to Ruckman Haus

The first album page this year has to do with our first trip of the year, which we actually planned more than a month ago. Guy was going to be down in San Antonio from his new posting in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and we wanted to take the opportunity to see him, as well as visit with Ron and Prudence. So on Friday evening, we hopped a flight on Southwest down to San Antonio, where the three of them picked us up at the airport. As we customarily do, we stopped for dinner on our way back to Ruckman Haus.

We had the Luxembourg Room again, as I recall, while Guy had the English Room. Prudence already had guests in the Sun Room and the French Room. On Saturday, we spent the day just visiting, running some errands and generally relaxing. As I recall, Guy was in San Antonio for an anniversary celebration for one of his former parishoners; they had specifically asked that he come officiate at their festivities.

After their guests had eaten breakfast and departed for the day, Ron made breakfast for Guy and Fred and I. Just before digging in to his Ruckman Haus French Toast, Fred stopped to take a picture of Guy and I in the Ruckman Haus dining room having one of our usual conversations.

After breakfast, while Ron was cleaning up the kitchen and Prudence was getting her guest rooms cleaned, Guy and I sat in the living room and continued our conversation, part of which Fred filmed. You can see his movie using the player at right.

Meanwhile, Fred took a couple of nice pictures of Prudence's cat Callie, and you can see them here and here. Although I had seen it before, Prudence stopped her work to show Fred where she had hung a new piece of artwork that she had purchased earlier in the year to match a piece she already had. I had shown Fred pictures of both of the pieces that I took the last time I was down here visiting.

Prudence had done a lot of work in her East Garden and, as always, Fred was interested in what she had done and Prudence had a lot of questions about the care of some of the flowers and plants. Prudence had also gotten a new garden statue and had placed it near the porch at the top of the garden.

I think that Prudence, Ron, Fred and I went to Tomatillo's for dinner while Guy was at the anniversary festivities, and we met later for coffee. On Sunday, we had another great breakfast, did some more visiting, took a drive a ways north out of the city and then had some dinner at The Quarry on the way to the airport. As usual, our visit was all too brief, but we enjoy any chance we have to get down to visit Prudence and Ron, and of course seeing Guy was a welcome bonus.
