Christmas in Dallas

As has been usual in years past, Fred visits his Mom in DeLeon on the 23rd and 24th, leaving there to stop in Cleburne to do Christmas Eve with his stepmother Nina and his half-brother Troy and his family. He returned here late on Christmas Eve, and on Christmas Day he and I gathered around the tree to unwrap the gifts we'd gotten for each other any any others we'd been given.

In the last ten years or so, I've not set up the large artificial tree that I have in the garage, but the smaller, tabletop tree that I inherited from my Mother. It is quite satisfactory, fairly easy to set up and decorate, and certainly Christmasy enough. The cats are usually anxious to help me set up the tree, and play with it after it gets set up. Each year I lose a few ornaments to kitty playtime.

On Christmas morning, Fred and I and the cats opened the gifts we'd all gotten for each other, and we took some candid shots of the process as we went. In addition to the two at left, six others turned out good enough to include here, and if you want to see any of them you can just click on the thumbnail images below:

When we were done and I was in the kitchen working on supper for later, Lucky got up on the table underneath the tree, and he looked so content there that Fred took a whole series of pictures of him. Here are two of the best of them:

Again as with Christmases past, supper has been a time to be shared with our friends. This year, we had our friends Steve and Mario, John Evans and Lou. Everyone contributed to the dinner, at which we all had a great time. Instead of setting up the tripod as we usually do, Fred and I each took one picture of the group at the dinner table to get ourselves in. Here are those pictures:

Christmas Day was the last day of the year for picture-taking. We did head down to Florida on the 27th, but those pictures more properly belong on the first album page for next year devoted to that trip. So I hope you've enjoyed this year in pictures and, if you haven't already done so, I hope you'll return to the index page and look at both the miscellaneous pictures and the pictures of our pets that we took during the year.
