The Holidays in Dallas

This Fall has certainly been eventful, what with the purchase of the condo and the many trips we made down to begin working on it. But now it was time to return home and spend the holidays with our friends at home.

As is my custom, I cooked a big Thanksgiving dinner, and we had our friends Greg and Scott Gordon over to share it with us. Grant was doing pretty well, but just towards the end of the meal, he got very chilled, and had to go up to bed where he ran a very high temperature until late in the evening, at which time the fever suddenly abated, and he felt much better.

We'd been advised that episodes like this might happen, and I knew what medications to give Grant, but these times worry both of us. They are the indications that something is seriously wrong, which we know, but sometimes when he is feeling well for a long stretch we can put it out of our minds for a while.

Grant continues to have stomach issues, and the KS on his shin is not improving, but these things don't keep him in bed. He does have some days when he doesn't feel like doing much, but we have been told to expect that.

We decided not to go anywhere for Christmas, which we spent at home, having some friends over occasionally during and after Christmas. The picture at left was taken one December afternoon as we were waiting for our friend Bob to come over, and has Grant playing solitaire on the computer in the den.

We spent New Year's at home and planned Grant's return to the condo in Fort Lauderdale. I had a class in New Jersey early in January, and so I planned to go through North Carolina to see my mom and my sister Judy.
