Florida Trip Day 1

Our Flight to Florida

We left DFW early Saturday morning- on American, of course. The day was a good one for flying, and Fred took the opportunity to take some pictures from the plane. Some of them, particularly the ones he took while the plane was coming in for a landing, are interesting. For example, here we are crossing the Mississippi River between Shreveport and New Orleans.

As we came in for a landing, Fred took a good series of six pictures; just click on the links to view them:

Dinner with Ty and Scott

On Saturday evening, Ty and Scott invited us to come have some drinks with them and, and so we drove up to their place in Imperial Point Tower. One of the reasons that Ty wanted to get together right away was that for some months he and I had been talking on the phone about a major renovation to my condo there in Florida. We had been doing some planning right through the summer and this week we planned to pick out some of the fixtures, colors and cabinets for the redo. We were thinking of beginning the renovation the week after I left Pervasive, which would put it about the second week in November.

So Ty and I spent some time talking about some of the final details while we were there. I noticed that in the bathroom redo that Ty had done of their own place, they had picked out a very unusual water faucet, one that looked and worked like an old-time well. I wanted to take a picture of it in case we had a hard time finding it, but it turned out to be an easily available item at Lowe's or Home Depot. We settled on that and made quite a few other decisions.

I would like to start and complete the project before next February when Frank and Joe will be coming to Florida for a visit with Fred and myself, but we won't be able to make that decision until later in this trip when we can find out the delivery dates for cabinets and granite and such. I hope that by the end of this trip we will have enough information that we can schedule the project to begin the week after Fred and I leave.
