A Day at the Beach

This morning, we slept kind of late, and when we did get up, I made coffee for everyone, and we spent some time sitting down by the dock. It's Tuesday, so there is not a lot of traffic going up and down the river, but we just sat and talked.

About eleven, we decided to combine breakfast and lunch, and we all walked down Las Olas to the Floridian Restaurant, where the picture at left was taken. There, we ate and made some plans for the day- which we planned to spend mainly at the beach. But we also thought that it being all-you-can-eat shrimp night at Catfish Dewey's that we would plan on going there for dinner.

After eating, we walked back to the condo to gather our stuff together to head over to the beach. The river had gotten a bit busier, and we saw a yacht and two tugboats heading upriver.

When we were all set, we piled in the Jeep and headed over to the beach.

The beach was pretty busy, but we were able to find a place to spread out. As usual, I wasn't very interested in going in the water, particularly since it was about 65-70 degrees and a bit chilly for me. As I recall, no one else went in the water either. Frank and Joe spent most of their time walking up and down the beach with Fred, while I stayed back at the towels and beach chairs watching our stuff and reading my book. We'd brought both my beach chairs and two new towels we'd bought for Frank and Joe, but while they were gone, I took the opportunity to use both chairs and make a chaise.

Fred took quite a few pictures of the beach while they were out walking, and I've put thumbnails for some of them below. You can view a full-size picture by clicking on the appropriate thumbnail:

After a few hours at the beach, we gathered up our stuff and headed back to the condo.

At Riverview Gardens

As usual, I made frozen drinks for everybody, and we took them down to the dock to sit in the wan sunshine and chill out. Fred only took one photo- that of Joe and Frank relaxing at the dock.

Along about seven-thirty, we met Ty and Scott at Catfish Dewey's and had a great meal. The next day we are going to be off to Key West, so we didn't stay out or up late.
