Thanksgiving Trip Day 8
Thanksgiving at My Sister's House

It's Thanksgiving today, and Fred and I are looking foward to a great day with my family- Judy and Patrick, Ted and Jeffie and Michael. This will be the first Thanksgiving in many, many years when I haven't cooked a turkey at home and had guests over. But it will be nice to turn over most of the kitchen duties to someone else for a change; I am fortunate that it will be the capable hands of my sister. She will win this year's turkey contest by default.

Thanksgiving Day at Judy's

Of course, Ted had gotten her last night, but Jeffie and Michael arrived about noon. Earlier in the morning, we'd visited with Judy, and she'd shown off her two wiener dogs and the tricks they do. We'd also watched Ted and his dog Lucy playing with the two wiener dogs. If you would like to see some pictures of what Judy's dogs can do, just click on the thumbnail images below:

Playing With the Dogs

Ted likes playing with his dog, Lucy, and Judy's. They are particularly fond of a long, twisty snake that Ted dangles in front of them.

Towards late afternoon, we were just sitting around waiting for the turkey, and I took some candid shots of the family as we hung out, as Judy went to the barn to feed the animals and as we just generally worked up appetites. Have a look at some of these pictures by clicking on the thumbnails below:

Before dinner, Fred and I took turns taking a couple of pictures of Ted and Michael (since we don't see them that often). (I wanted to include Jeffie as well, but she is even more photophobic than her brother used to be.) Anyway, you can have a look at those pictures here and here. (I did surreptitiously walk into the kitchen to snap a picture of Jeffie, but I caught her at an odd time. Jeffie is quite a beautiful girl, although this picture doesn't do her justice.)

Dinner Preparations

Once the animals were all taken care of, it was time to get Thanksgiving dinner together. Judy and Jeffie and I set the Thanksgiving table and then we all sat down to eat.

Of course, we needed "official" Thanksgiving pictures, but short of setting up the tripod (which we didn't want to take the time to do, Fred and I had to take two of them, switching ourselves out. Those two pictures are below, the first with Fred and the second with me:

Thanksgiving Dinner

I wanted to make one movie while we were all eating dinner, and this is it.

We really had a great dinner, and a good time afterwards with the traditional pies and cakes. Fred and I always enjoy seeing the Barbour family. At the end of the evening, Michael and Jeffie and Fred and I went back to the Microtel for the night.
