This Saturday was my birthday, and we've done a number of times already, we invited all our friends over to the house for dinner and conversation. It's really not the birthday that's the reason we get together; I am well past the age where birthday parties are memorable. It is actually more of a reason just to gather our friends together so they can catch up with each other.

This Year's Birthday Group

This year's group consisted of most of our oldest friends, minus some who moved away since last year. There was Fred and me, of course, and Fred's the one holding my cat Chip while I am standing at left. My mom is seated in the wing chair, and my niece Jeffie is sitting on the ottoman just in front of her. That's Lynne Richardson back by Fred. Lowery and Ron are absent this year, having moved to Brandon, Florida, just outside Tampa. Of the people on the hearth, Chris Young is at left. He usually attends with his partner Ron, but Ron is at home with his family for Thanksgiving. Lou Acevedo is in the striped shirt at the back, and on either side of him are Nancy and Karl. Nancy is, of course, Prudence's sister, and she and Karl, whom she has known for some years now, were married this past summer. Finally, at the very right is our friend Brad.

Our good friend, Barbara Reynolds, had also attended, but she had to leave shortly after supper, and thus doesn't appear in this group shot towards the end of the evening. But you can see her here, in a picture taken during supper. She's at the table with my mom, Lynne, Karl and Nancy.

We didn't take a lot of pictures this evening, and there are just two others to include here. Both were taken before supper while we were having hors d'oeuvres and snacks, and you can see them below:

We had a good time at this, my 54th birthday.
