A Visit with Prudence in Fort Worth

Prudence has come up to Fort Worth to visit one of her artists, and as she has done numerous times before she has invited Fred and I to come over to have supper with her, Ron, Karl, Nancy, and Jax. And as we have gratefully done numerous times before, we have been happy to accept.

We have gone over to Fort Worth so often that you probably have the map of our route over there memorized. But in the unlikely event you haven't, you can see that it is pretty much a straight shot across the Metroplex on Texas 183 and Texas 121 into downtown Fort Worth.

Prudence was staying at the Harper-Kimpton again, so we parked around the corner and met everyone there.

The Harper-Kimpton is a very nice hotel, and the San Antonio crowd stays there because they are happy to allow them to bring Jax with them.

At left is an aerial view of the few square blocks that encompass the hotel and the part of General Worth Square where Prudence is able to take Jax for a walk.

As for the few pictures that we took this evening, all of them were taken while we were on one of the couple of walks that we took with Prudence and Jax. Featuring prominently in these pictures is the JFK Memorial that is part of the General Worth Square complex.

On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy gave an impromptu speech to thousands of rain-drenched spectators on the front steps of the historic Hotel Texas, now the Hilton Fort Worth, followed by a formal presentation at the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce breakfast.

The JFK Tribute in Fort Worth’s General Worth Square marks the place and occasion of the President's historic visit with a beautiful Lawrence Ludtke bronze statue of President Kennedy set within an elegant plaza. Selected quotes from a number of JFK's historic speeches including the famous "There are no faint hearts in Fort Worth" quote are featured throughout.

Here are the pictures we took on our walk this evening:

There is an historical plaque adjacent to the Kennedy Memorial, and I thought you might want to read it. It is in the scrollable window below, and you can use the scroll bar to see the entire plaque:

We had a really nice dinner with everyone at the Italian Restaurant right in the hotel and, as always, we appreciate very much Prudence's hospitality!
