My birthday is actually Sunday, November 23, but since Ron and Jay and Fred and I have planned to drive up to Chris Young's house to visit with him on that day, we are celebrating my birthday this evening, Friday.

This is going to be a small birthday celebration- just six of us. Fred and I will be there, of course, but also Ron and Jay and Steve and Mario.

Rather than cook a meal at my house, Fred is taking the six of us to Celebration Restaurant for dinner. So we'll just be having drinks at my house before our eight o'clock reservation. Fred helped me get the house in shape, and an hour before everyone was due found us able to relax and wait for them. Bobbie Lee Maxine, Fred's cat who's been staying with me in preparation for being alone for the next three and a half weeks, was also pretty mellow in the study chair while Fred and I waited for the guys. The guys arrived right on time, and we spent an hour or so just sitting around talking. Fred took a few pictures, and if you will click on the thumbnail images below you can look at them:

Just before eight, we headed off to Celebration. When I made the reservation, I requested one of the private rooms and, although we had to wait a little while when we got there, that is what we got. Before we got started eating, I had the waiter use my camera to take a picture of the birthday group. And a little later on, I made a movie of everyone in the group having dinner, and you can watch that movie using the player at left. We had a really nice dinner, and were back at my house for dessert about ten-thirty.

Back at my house, I put on the coffee and Fred got out the birthday cake he'd purchased. We had cake, coffee and more conversation until the evening ended. Click on the thumbnail images below to see the pictures that Fred took while we were having dessert and I was looking a birthday cards:

It was a very quiet birthday party, but then 62 is no great milestone. I was quite content to spend the evening with my closest friends.
