May 19-25, 2017:
A Week in Berlin, Germany

For some time, the Ruckmans (Prudence and Ron) and the Gleims (Nancy and Karl) have been planning a European vacation. They would spend five days in London, five days in Paris, and five days in Berlin. They invited Fred and I to accompany them, but the length of time was a bit much and we'd already been to London and Paris. We decided, however, to join them for their stay in Berlin and then, when they headed home, we would go to Prague to see my niece Jeffie who's been living and working there for almost two years- fulfilling our promise that we would come visit.

In researching ways to get to Berlin and home from Prague, we found that the most economical flights were to be found on Turkish Airlines out of Miami. The outbound leg would be Miami-Istanbul-Berlin; the return leg would be Prague-Istanbul-Miami. (We'd get from Berlin to Prague by train.) Since stopovers in Istanbul were allowed, we decided to take this opportunity to see a city that I doubt we would otherwise have ever visited.

The album pages in this section will be devoted to our time in Berlin- including our trip to get there.

We did so many things in Berlin, and took so many pictures and movies, that putting them all on one album page would make that page unwieldy, and so, as I have done before, there will be a page for each day of our stay in Germany's capital. At left is an index to these pages so that you can jump directly to the one that might interest you. Of course, you can also begin with the first page and go day by day through the entire trip.

Each day page will have a link that will bring you back here, where you will find the buttons that will enable you to continue through the photo album.

We hope you enjoy traveling to Berlin and seeing it with us!
